June tapestry diary completed and I cannot believe how fast this month went by! Very pleased with this effort; especially loved weaving the swirls and each one was a little more complicated, by design. The texture in this month's weaving is also pleasing to me. July, which will likely be the last month on this warp, will be in shades of red -- dark reds and I have no particular plan at this point so we'll just have to wait and see what comes to me.

First week of June complete. This month is going to be mostly orange, with a little yellow and a tiny bit of lavender to tie it to the previous month. Lots of texture. Lots of warmth, as the temperatures rise in San Marcos. I'm getting really excited to complete this warp and see what the entire piece looks like. I definitely have room for July and may be August too before I run out of warp. Can you guess what colors July and August will be? May 1-10, 2012 Tapestry Diary Days 1-10. Slipped off my threading stool the other day and hurt my back, so I was unable to weave for a couple of days; hence, the "8" and "9". Still using this process for "make-up" days. May seems to be more condensed for some strange reason. Colors for this month's weaving will be, for the most part, purples and pinks. April 14-18. The birdhouse took the better part of the evening to weave. Tapestry is a slow weave -- a very slow weave. As I progress through April, I notice I've become a little more adventurous and daring in my weaving -- a little more experimental with blending colors. It's becoming more like painting on some level. Finished the last little bit of weaving for March tonight, and April is ready to go tomorrow. April's main color will be green, but this time, I'm going to try and include some inspiration from my weaving garden. Since I was unable to successfully weave a shamrock on March 17th, I realize this may be a bit ambitious for this warp, but we'll see what happens! Twenty-one little flags for the 21st day of March. A little out of the box, no? I just felt like doing something completely different for today's tapestry weaving. Am considering trimming the bottom row a little so you can see some of the 13th day, which is now almost completely hidden. It's hard to believe, March is already two-thirds gone, and I'm already brain storming April's tapestry, which will be mostly greens. And speaking of green, the last three nights before the big storm I was kept awake by what was apparently a singing toad -- a very loud toad -- so loud that I could hear him from inside the house, with all the doors and windows closed! The storm may have been his demise, since last night was completely quiet. Thankfully, "the girls" (Maizie and Melba, my two labs) and I fared the storm just fine. Even the outdoor weavings survived, and considering the rain and winds, it is a small miracle! Day 16. I’ve decided that the days I don’t get to weave, I’m going to weave the actual numbers, like I did on the 14th. Was having such bad stomach pains, I just couldn’t weave that night. And this way, I get practice on weaving something specific. Still enjoying the process. Got some great tapestry yarns in the mail to add to this project. I'm very pleased because I can already see some improvement in my skills. |
