WHERE IN THE WORLD IS ARMANDE?
...
05/05/12. Armande was a special guest at the WSSA Keep Austin Warped! Fiber Show & Sale. I think he was actually assigned the job of "keeper of the fiber batts", although several people were interested in taking him home. Can you spot him in the photo?
03/24/2012. Armande and I needed to get away, so we went on a little road trip. The wild flowers were amazing -- yellow, blue, purple and a little red all over the road medians. We ended up in Boerne and decided to go on to Comfort to The Tinsmith's Wife, where he met a very nice kitty and took a little nap after the long drive. The people at the shop were very nice and friendly and let him play in the Noro yarn. He also got to sit up high on a shelf with a fluffy lamb, but since he's a bit afraid of heights, he didn't stay up there very long.
After The Tinsmith's Wife, we went across the street to the Loom Room, where he tried his paws at spinning and got to check out the pre-made warps for sale, and all the looms and yarn there in the shop. We left there with a Nanduti doily from Paraguay and a cone of linen warp. It was a really fun day and we brought a lot of really nice yarn and a couple of patterns home, but now it's time to get back to the looms and make ready for the show in May. There's so much work to be done! |

03/16/2012. A visit to the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio was on the calendar today. Armande and I got to meet Robert, one of the teachers there, and several of the other weavers working on projects. Doerte Weber, who is also a weaver at the center, gave us the grand tour and introduced us to many of her weaving friends. We were both really impressed with the number and variety of looms there at the school and the beautiful items the students were making. We got to see a Louet Spring loom in action, as Janis was weaving her project on that loom.

03/15/2012. Armande was invited to the Wheel-N-Deals square dance club in San Marcos, Texas. They dance every week at 7:30 at The Dunbar Center. Since he'd already had quite a full day in Wimberley, he only danced one dance.
